Course Description

Social media is a powerful tool that helps organisations maximise, inter-alia, marketing, branding, sales generation and their online presence. However, the reliance on social media also brings concerns around the management of content, the monitoring of channels for both misleading statements and offensive behaviour, and employee unauthorised disclosure. The release of confidential information by individuals with inside knowledge, albeit it can be accidental, is another source of concern that organisation must manage. The impact of such acts can be damaging to the organisation’s reputation and assertions, competitive advantage, coupled with potential legal and operational ramifications associated with overcoming the negative attention. The aim of this course is to increase the awareness of the safe, and professional, use social media by employees. This course has been designed for employees at all levels of the organisation. It will explore (1) inappropriate, discriminatory, and defamatory behaviour on social media, (2) criticising colleagues and the employer, (3) being inadvertently associated by other people’s social media postings, (4) using social media safely and your digital footprint, (5) privacy, confidentiality, and disciplinary action, and (6) online bullying and harassment. By the end of the session, participants are expected to be able to apply key learning that will help them (1) become aware of safe and professional social media practice, (2) realise that social media is never private, (3) understand the risk of discussing work matters on personal social media accounts, and 4) help the employer protect against reputational and business cost associated with the negative impact of employee’s unprofessional behaviour. This interactive session is composed of short presentations, exercises, case study, theory and practice, along with discussion and Q&As. It will provide a unique opportunity to gain insight, know-how, and build a personal network of like-minded people in the cohort. This is a half day (3 hr session) that can be delivered on a 1-1 basis, which provides dedicated attention or to a cohort (max 14 people). Group discount of 10% available for 4 or more people. Participants will be issued with a CPD completion certificate. Bookings will be confirmed upon payment of invoice. Payment via direct bank transfer is our preferred method.
